Festival tersebut banyak memamerkan segala hal tentang Jepang. Mulai dari manga (komik), cosplay anime serta kuliner khas Jepang.
Namun, ada satu hal yang rasanya sangat sayang untuk dilewatkan. Satu hal yang sangat berkaitan dengan anime. Ya, Japanese Music atau Musik J-Pop.
Sebelum masuk ke Indonesia, musik Jepang berawal dari musik jazz yang populer pada era Showa, yakni pada 1926 oleh Kaisar Hirohito sampai masa Perang Dunia II, 1945. Setelah Perang Dunia II, musik Jepang berevolusi menjadi banyak genre.
Musik Jepang yang kini dikenal sebagai genre adalah gabungan genre musik yang berkembang sejak berakhirnya Perang Dunia II di Jepang. Genre yang dimaksud adalah pop, rock, dance, rap dan soul.
Di Indonesia, penyebaran J-Pop berakar dari anime atau lebih dikenal dengan kartun. Diawali sejak mencuatnya serial anime Bleach seri kelima pada tahun 2000-an dengan menggunakan lagu karya Yui berjudul Rolling Star. J-Pop kemudian berkembang menjadi sebuah genre yang mempengaruhi musisi tanah air.
Sebut saja band Tokyolite yang dibentuk pada 2009 silam. Memilih funk pop, band asal bogor ini berkiblat pada J-Pop. Reputasi Tokyolite bisa dilihat dari keberhasilan mereka lolos dalam sebuah ajang musik bergengsi di Jepang bernama “Asia Versus” pada tahun 2013. Mewakili Indonesia Tokyolite berhasil menjadi runner up melalui karya “Never Want”.
Nyatanya, Band Tokyolite hanya sepercik dari banyaknya musisi tanah air menjadikan J-Pop sebagai kiblat musik mereka. Band Ikkubaru Jafunisun serta musisi lain yang tak sempat termaktub di sini menjadi saksi akan fenomena J-Pop di Indonesia.
